The sewers were created as a means to direct a steady flow of water to the Core in order to keep it cooled, preventing it from exploding and annihilating the entire realm. Troglodytes have taken up residence in the sewers and roam them during the day. During the night, the Troglodytes raid the surface and the sewers are all but abandoned, allowing relatively safe exploration. Some Troglodytes remain behind, guarding the sewers.
